The Philippine bowling team ensured they would not leave the 33rd Southeast Asian Games empty-handed, as the men successfully defended their team-of-four title on Friday at Blu-O Rhythm & Bowl, Major Cineplex Ratchayothin in Bangkok, Thailand.
Despite fielding an entirely new lineup from the quartet that claimed gold three years ago in Vietnam, the Filipinos, led by men’s singles bronze medalist Mark Jesus San Jose, rose to the occasion.
San Jose, along with Kenneth Chua, Marc Dylan Custodio, and Artegal Barrientos, dominated host Thailand, 981–865, in the gold medal match, capping off a triumphant campaign for the Philippines.
