After Lyceum absorbed an 88-92 loss to Letran — ending their NCAA Season 95 Seniors Basketball campaign — twins Jaycee and Jayvee Marcelino wept.
The two might have seen their stellar three-year run with the Pirates come to an end, since they are seriously considering entering the 2019 PBA Rookie Draft.
This, because the two are breadwinners to their families.
“Naglalaban talaga e. Ngayon, nasa isip namin na bumawi next year, pero ‘yung draft naman kasi kailangan na namin mairaos pamilya namin,” said Jayvee, who had five points, three rebounds, three assists, and two steals against Letran.
But their bitter loss has them reconsidering, since this is the first time they won’t be in the Finals.
The two — who served their D-League residency with the Zark’s Burger-Lyceum Jawbreakers — will then use the next few days to ponder this big decision. They have until November 29 to decide.
“Pinag-iisipan pa namin. Kakausapin pa namin yung LPU community kung babalik pa kami. Pahinga muna namin utak namin,” said Jaycee, who had a game-high 26 points in the game.
Leaving or not, however, the duo have no regrets with what they have accomplished this season. They believe that the breaks of the game simply did not go in Lyceum’s favor.
“Wala kaming regret sa ginawa namin dahil lumaban kami kanina. Hindi kami bumigay kahit malaki na lamang nila. Kinapos lang talaga,” said Jayvee.
“Lahat naman binigay namin sa laro e. Kinapos talaga at sinuwerte sila. Pero masakit talaga e,” continued Jaycee.
