Manila Chooks await PCR test results in Doha before beginning practice

DOHA — Manila Chooks TM arrived in Qatar, Monday morning.

The quartet of Philippines no. 1 Joshua Munzon, no. 2 Alvin Pasaol, no. 5 Troy Rike, and no. 6 Santi Santillan — together with team photographer Jerome Ascano of Spin.ph — arrived at the Hamad International Airport at 9:23AM (4:23AM Doha time).

At the airport, the team was immediately asked to download the Qatar government’s standard contact-tracing app and were administered an RT-PCR test.

The team then went straight to the Marriott Marquis City Center Doha Hotel. Manila Chooks TM will be quarantined in their rooms until the results come out.

In the meantime, the team is reviewing the scouting reports of the opponents they will possibly face. As of publishing, FIBA 3×3 has yet to release the groupings for the Doha World Tour Masters.

The tournament that has a USD40,000 top prize will take place from November 20 to 21 at the Al Gharafa Sports Complex.

“Review muna kami dito sa rooms namin. At least nakakapag-ready kami kahit hindi pa kami makapag-ensayo rito,” said team captain Pasaol.

Liman and UB of Serbia; Riga of Latvia; NY Harlem and Princeton of USA; Lausanne of Switzerland; Jeddah and Riyadh of Saudi Arabia; Kamakura and Yoyogi of Japan; Bielefeld of Germany; Utana of Lithuania; and home team Lusail are also competing in the level 10-ranked tournament.
