Mac Belo out for FIBA ACQ first window

Gilas Pilipinas will miss the services of Mac Belo for the FIBA Asia Cup 2021 Qualifiers’ first window this February.

Team manager Gabby Cui confirmed to Tiebreaker Times on Saturday morning that the Blackwater Elite main man will not be available. The team cited that Belo is still recovering from a recurring knee injury.

“Belo undergoing rehab on his knees, out for 2 weeks,” Cui wrote in a short text message.

The 6-foot-4 Belo is the third player to pull out, following big men Christian Standhardinger and Japeth Aguilar.

The Filipino-German bruiser sought some time off to work on his knee issues. Meanwhile, the Barangay Ginebra forward begged off for his honeymoon after his recent marriage.

Gilas has already began its preparations for the Qualifiers’ first window, where it will face its Southeast Asian rivals. It battles Thailand on the 20th here before taking on Indonesia on the 23rd.
