M5: Blacklist falters in five-game thriller against Onic

Blacklist International failed to build on a rousing Game 4 victory and succumbed to a 3-2 loss at the hands of Onic Esports in the upper bracket of the M5 World Championship on Saturday at the EVM Convention Center in Quezon City.

The Tier One-backed squad will fight for dear life in the lower bracket while Onic will face CIS region’s Deus Vult in the upper bracket semi-finals.

In such a lengthy series, adjustments were key and it helped Onic Esports Denver “Yeb” Miranda to decode the M3 World Champions.

“Tuwing may mga best of 5 or best of 7, kailangan po naming mag-adjust o mag-aral dun din inside sa series na yun. And luckily, gumana naman siya,” he explained on what led to their dominant Game 5 performance.

After going down 2-1, Blacklist came out blazing in Game 4 as they controlled from the early game with Kiel “Oheb” Soriano playing out of his month, finishing with a 4-0-4 KDA in leading the Codebreakers to a 10-1 demolition of Onic on the kill tally in a 14-minute victory.

But Onic brought their A-game in the decider, finishing their rivals in just 13 minutes on the back of a mammoth 12-2 reign on the kill tally.

Gilang “SANZ” Sanz was the image of dominion for Onic in the closeout game as he finished with a perfect 6-0-6 KDA while flaunting his brilliance all game long.

With the loss, Blacklist will once again journey through the lower bracket as they face a familiar foe in Fire Flux Esports which handed them a 2-0 loss during the group stage.
