Lyceum nets three Fil-Am prospects

Lyceum of the Philippines University has secured the commitments of three Filipino-American prospects.

The Pirates have secured the commitment of Desmond Pyne and the transfers of Jovan Abregana and RA Brucal.

“On behalf of LPU, we consider ourselves fortunate to have them on our team,” said fourth-year Pirates head coach Gilbert Malabanan.

“They will be a significant part of our program in the years to come as we strive to create an environment where inspiration thrives and camaraderie flourishes.”

Pyne is a 6-foot-5 forward who played for Desert Oasis High School in Las Vegas, Nevada.

He will be eligible to start in NCAA Season 100.

Meanwhile, Abregana is a 6-foot-3 winger who played one year at De Anza College.

Brucal, a 5-foot-10 combo guard from Dale Singson’s AAU program Clifton Tigers, spent one year at Seton Hall University.

They will have to sit out one year before being eligible for NCAA Season 101.

Meanwhile, the Junior Pirates program will now be aligned with the seniors’ program with Al Vergara taking the reins of the junior team.

Vergara replaces JC Docto.

The Pirates finished in fourth place last season, while the Junior Pirates ended their campaign in ninth place with a 2-7 record.
