Lito Adiwang to watch ONE: A New Breed main event as he makes Super Series transition

Team Lakay star and fifth-ranked strawweight Lito “Thunder Kid” Adiwang has been following ONE Super Series closely since ONE Championship returned to action.

With that, his eyes will be glued to the screen this Friday, September 11, when the previously recorded ONE: A New Breed II — which originally took place in Bangkok, Thailand — is broadcast to the public.

Pongsiri PK.Saenchai Muaythaigym battles Sean “Clubber” Clancy in an atomweight Muay Thai clash in the main event of the evening, and “Thunder Kid” believes this match could go down to the wire.

“It’s champion versus champion in the main event,” Adiwang said.

“Sean Clancy is a technical fighter from Ireland who went to Thailand to train and fight there and eventually become a champion. He’s even faced some legends of the sport like Saenchai. That’s how talented and good he is.”

However, Adiwang is siding with the home country’s favorite in this battle, given the 29-year-old’s aggressive style, which “Thunder Kid” expects to be the Irishman’s bane.

“In this fight, I have to go to Pongsiri. I believe Pongsiri will bring everything he’s got into this fight,” Adiwang said. “For me, he has the edge in experience and his fighting style is aggressive. He’s a pressure fighter who loves to come forward. I see him winning the fight by attacking with powerful striking combinations, putting the pressure on Clancy until he breaks him down.

“I do wish them both the best of luck.”

Given Adiwang’s interest in Muay Thai and his striking acumen in mixed martial arts, has he ever entertained the idea of competing in ONE Super Series?

“The thought has crossed my mind,” Adiwang admitted. “That’s definitely something that I plan for the future. I love fighting and striking, and I can see myself being successful if I make that transition.

“Of course, there’s a perfect time for everything, and if that time comes, I would love to compete in ONE Super Series. Right now, though, I need to focus on my MMA career and prove myself in my division. I want to become an MMA World Champion.”

Watch the previously recorded ONE: A NEW BREED II this Friday, September 11, on One Sports or One Sports+ at 8:30 p.m. Philippine Standard Time (PHT). Also, TV5 will air the event on a next-day delay at 11 p.m. PHT on Saturday, 12 September.

You can also watch by downloading the ONE Super App.
