College of St. Benilde’s Will Gozum was thankful for the support of the Blazer legend Sunday Salvacion in their win against Colegio de San Juan de Letran on Sunday.
According to Gozum, the NCAA legend was a huge factor in their Game Two performance since Salvacion boosted their performance.
“Nakausap namin [siya] nung isang araw.
“Minotivate nila kami na para maging ganito yung laro namin. Thankful ako sa pag-support nila samin talagang andon. So yon, thankful ako,” said Gozum who finished with 21 points and 10 rebounds after their 76-71 win against Letran.
Indeed the Blazers played on a high on Sunday as they finally tied the series against the defending champions, 1-1.
Salvacion, a St. Benilde legend, was the one who brought their only championship back in Season 76. He also bagged the Most Valuable Player award two years after in Season 78 during their last Finals appearance.
Now, the 23-year-old Gozum has a chance to do a “Sunday Special.” He has already bagged the Most Valuable Player award, and is now only a win away from a championship.
“For me, si Kuya Sunday, iba talaga yung nagawa niya eh. So hopefully magawa ko din and mahigitan ko din si Kuya Sunday,” he hoped.
The league MVP also thinks that it would be better if Benilde were to take home the crown this season. After all, what they have done so far is already historic.
“Sobrang thankful kami dahil magkakaroon pa ng Game Three sa Ynares. And hopefully makuha namin yung kampeonato,” he said.
“Para sa’kin, sobrang daming mas sasaya kapag nakuha namin yung championship.”
