RSG PH roamer Dylan “Light” Catipon was on a mission on Friday night.
The reigning MPL Philippines MVP went back to his old, lethal ways after struggling in the first few weeks of the tournament and shut down Omega Esports star Duane “Kelra” Pillas in RSG PH’s 2-0 win at the ICITE Auditorium.
Light limited Kelra’s Beatrix in Game One to just four kills, three deaths, and an assist in Game One before holding him to just a kill, five deaths, and an assist on Bruno in the sweep-sealing Game Two.
“Si Kelra po yung key player ng Omega, kapag nag-online si Kelra doon talaga sila nagkakaroon ng advantage sa clash,” Light said after the victory.
“Kaya nasa isip ko lang lagi is si Kelra or minsan yung harap nila si Mikko para madisrupt yung playmaker nila,” he added.
RSG PH, which started its title-retention bid at 1-2, struggled to adapt to the META during the first few weeks of the tournament. Since then, the team has won four of its last five games to retake the top spot with a 5-3 standing.
Light said that his teammates’ drive to win helped him bounce back after a forgettable performance in the first two weeks of Season 10.
“Siguro sa kakampi ko rin kasi nakikita ko na gusto nilang bumawi at manalo so kapag ganon po kasi, parang nadadamay din ako,” said Light.
But aside from that, Light also has a personal motivation in mind – and that is to retain his throne as the league MVP.
“Saka gusto ko rin po ulit na mag MVP ulit ngayong season, itatry ko ulit kung kaya.”
