Leo Awards, Magnolia-TNT clash usher PBA Season 48

The Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) is all set to open Season 48.

Festivities will start on November 5 at the SMART Araneta Coliseum, with the prestigious Leo Awards kicking things off at 4:00 PM.

A grand opening ceremony will follow suit an hour later before rivals Magnolia and TNT face off at 7:00 p.m. for the lone game of opening night.

Reigning conference champions Ginebra, on the other hand, will make its debut on November 17 against Converge also at the Big Dome.

The league will play four days a week on Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays in the upcoming tourney, but with a slightly different time sked.

Weekday games will feature 4:00 PM and 8:00 PM double-headers, with the weekend matches will take place at 3:15 PM and 6:00 PM

Season 48 will also see the return of Christmas Games at Araneta.

San Miguel and Phoenix will open the twinbill at 4:00 p.m., followed by the Kings-Tropang Giga tilt at 8:00 in a Season 47 Governors’ Cup Finals rematch.

The elimination round will be until January 14, with the top four teams by the end of the said phase earning a twice-to-beat advantage in the quarterfinals.

Semis will be a best-of-five while the Finals will be a best-of-seven. The import-laden conference is projected to end by February.

The league is returning to action after almost seven months of break after giving way to Gilas Pilipinas’ numerous endeavors during that span.
