Days after announcing his engagement with long-time girlfriend and volleyball star Denden Lazaro, LA Revilla followed it up with an inspired outing.
The diminutive point guard produced 12 points, seven assists, four rebounds, and a steal in his Phoenix Pulse Fuel Masters’ 108-98 conquest of the Columbian Dyip, Wednesday evening at the SMART Araneta Coliseum.
“Dagdag inspiration? Oo,” beamed Revilla.
“Gagastos ako after one year. Papakasal kami eh. So kailangang kumita,”
Revilla and Lazaro have been together since 2014. Back then, the former had still been on his way to the pros while the latter was still with the Ateneo Lady Eagles and had won the UAAP Season 76 Women’s Volleyball title at the expense of La Salle.
But aside from their wedding, set for next year, Revilla was also happy for his team’s ongoing run in the 2019 PBA Philippine cup.
Wednesday evening’s win is Phoenix’s third win in a row, and they are now off to their best start in franchise history. So for Revilla, he hopes the Fuel Masters will continue to grow from this early success.
“Sana magtuluy-tuloy,” he said.
“Siyempre hindi naman namin mapa-promise or magiging 11-0. Hindi naman yung goal. As much as possible, one game at a time lang. Last conference, second nga kami, natalo naman kami sa twice-to-beat,” added Revilla.
“So it doesn’t really matter yung standing, I think the growth of the team yung importante.”
