Kianna Dy finally snapped out of her funk and spearheaded F2 Logistics’ sweep of Cignal on Saturday night.
Dy fired 22 points on 21 attacks and an ace to go along with seven excellent digs in the team’s 25-23, 25-20, 25-23 win over the HD Spikers in the 2023 Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference at the Philsports Arena.
The 2021 PNVF Champions League MVP has been in a slump in the Cargo Movers’ last two games, scoring only one point in the team’s straight-sets loss to Chery Tiggo before tallying 11 points in the team’s five-set triumph over defending champion Creamline.
“I’m trying to get my confidence back in every training, every game. It’s very important, especially padulo na, so hopefully tuloy-tuloy,” said the 27-year-old La Salle product after the win.
Dy said that she just heeded head coach Regine Diego’s call and made sure to finish the game early. F2 Logistics already played two five-setters in this conference – the most by any team.
“Coach told us that it’s very important for us to finish strong kasi kapag lumaban sila mahihirapan kami. So, yun yung mindset namin. Gusto ba namin mag-five sets ba ‘to or tapusin na? So that’s what we were thinking,” she added.
Meanwhile, Diego hopes that Dy can fully regain her confidence and be at her peak in time for the team’s final elimination assignments, which are set to determine their playoff status.
“I think paunti-unti is good kasi hindi masyadong nabibigla yung katawan niya. I’m patiently waiting na maging okay siya, I trust her na she’s going to be at her peak eventually, maybe not this conference, maybe this conference, maybe next, I don’t know,” said Diego.
“But I still trust how she handles herself and the team e kasi yung may experience is different pa rin saka yung may leadership. I’m hopeful na makuha niya yung peak niya this conference.”
