After struggling in three of their last five games, and numerous calls from their fans, Alab Pilipinas get a timely local reinforcement
Two-time UAAP Most Valuable Player and NBA D-Leaguer Kiefer Ravena is set to join Alab Pilipinas in their campaign in the 2016-17 ABL Season. The news was first reported by a source closely monitoring the situation, and was confirmed by league official Jericho Ilagan.
Ravena, 23, was on the roster for Dallas Mavericks NBA D-League affiliate Texas Legends but joined Philippine-based club team Mighty Sports in their campaign in the Dubai International Basketball Tournament. The 6-foot guard injured his right arm when Mighty Sports took on Homenetmen, however, and had to miss the rest of the tournament. The injury is expected to heal in two weeks
The former Ateneo Blue Eagle though will only play for Alab once his stint with the Texas Legends end. However, Alab needed to sign Ravena immediately because of the league memorandum setting this week as the final frame for local signing.
And the signing could not have been are timely, as Alab are currently struggling, having lost three of their last five games.
Ravena will join a team headed by former two-time MVP Bobby Ray Parks Jr., an exciting duo that will no doubt excite basketball aficionados.
