ANTIPOLO — Kib Montalbo hopes to recover as soon as possible from the groin injury that has been keeping him out of TNT for games now.
The 26-year-old has missed three matches for the Tropang Giga. He suffered a strain on the said part during their PBA Philippine Cup meeting with Blackwater last June 9 at the Ynares Center here which they lost, 78-85.
He actually played for almost 23 minutes versus the Bossings and collected two points, three rebounds, four assists, two steals, and a block.
The La Salle product said that he had already felt tightness during that game, but only discovered a tear the next day following a check-up.
“Nakalaro ako ng full game, pero that time masakit na siya. Tight,” Montalbo said moments after he witnessed TNT take a 78-71 win over Meralco.
“Pagdating ng next day, I felt it at wala na siyang lakas. Then, nung pina-check namin sa doktor, may punit,” he furthered.
The former Gilas Pilipinas member bared that there’s no timetable yet as to when he can go back, thus his hope to heal the soonest.
He has already undergone platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy as part of the recovery process, raring to return to the fold as TNT saw vets Jayson Castro and Ryan Reyes suffer minor injuries during their clash with the Bolts.
“There’s no timetable yet because it’s a groin injury so it will depend on my healing,” said Montalbo.
“Can’t wait to be back and contribute to the team.”
