PLDT continues to show no signs of slowing down, stretching its winning streak in the Premier Volleyball League to 15 games.
Since the first-ever PVL On Tour, the High Speed Hitters have been nothing short of dominant — sweeping the tournament for their first championship, albeit in a preseason setting.
But the winning didn’t stop there. PLDT went on to sweep the PVL Invitational Conference for another crown, and now, they’ve opened the Reinforced Conference with two more straight-set victories — the latest being a 25-21, 25-20, 25-19 triumph over Choco Mucho on Thursday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
For Kianna Dy, the team’s steady run stems from their focus and discipline despite the fresh challenges each conference brings.
“It’s a new conference, each team is reinforced, so it’s really gonna be a different level, so we just focus one game at a time. We focus lang sa goal, hindi na namin iniisip na ‘ay, back-to-back kami,’” said Dy after the win against the Flying Titans.
Team captain Kath Arado echoed Dy’s mindset, emphasizing the importance of sticking to their system and maintaining good habits — something that has consistently paid off for the squad.
That same formula carried them through the PVL On Tour and the Invitational Conference, both of which ended with championship victories.
“Lagi nga sinasabi ni coach na hindi kami puwedeng tumingin agad sa malayo. Day by day, game by game, kung sino yung team na kalaban namin next game, kailangan namin tutukan talaga, per tao,” said Arado.
“Yun nga sabi lagi sa amin na kung gagalaw kami nang maayos, for sure naman yung result makukuha namin. So ganon nakafocus yung team. Yung trabaho talaga muna individual kasi as a group naman present naman lagi lahat. And yung mga coaches laging sinasabi na basta present lang kami, mabilis na kami turuan.”
