Khate Castillo shows all-around game as Parañaque escapes Pampanga


Parañaque stayed unbeaten on Saturday after nipping Pampanga, 72-71, in the Women’s National Basketball League (WNBL) at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center in San Fernando, Pampanga.

Khate Castillo scored 29 points and hauled nine rebounds. Meanwhile, Camille Claro had 17 points and eight assists for the Lady Aces as they carded a 2-0 win-loss card.

The Lady Aces led by as many as nine points and later led by six on a three by Castillo with 3:33 remaining in the game, 71-65.

The Delta Amazons, however, made it a one-point game on a basket by Mina Reyes with 1:16 left. On the game’s final possession, Ruby Mendoza missed a potential game-winner.

Nixie Jimenez had 15 points. Reyes tallied 13 points and nine rebounds for the Delta Amazons, who now own a 0-2 card in the tournament supported by Chooks to Go, Spalding, Crystal Clear, BTV, Solar Sports, and GIG Sportswear.
