Kevin Belingon out to regain crown for Ifugao

Former ONE Bantamweight World Champion Kevin “The Silencer” Belingon is determined to bring the belt back to his hometown of Kiangan, Ifugao.

Belingon takes on Bibiano “The Flash” Fernandes in the co-main event of ONE: Century Part II on October 13 at the Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo, Japan.

The 31-year-old hard-hitter vividly remembers the time he brought home the gold-plated strap to the landlocked municipality.

It was certainly a time for celebration — and it is something that he yearns to experience again.

“For me, going back to the village with the belt will bring back the pride and joy in our village,” Belingon said.

“I was so happy to see the children and my fellow Ifugaos who were so glad to see the belt. And of course, it was a happy moment for me and for my town.”

The Team Lakay standout also believes that regaining the strap will motivate the youth in his community to follow in his footsteps.

“When I brought the belt to the village, the children were so happy. They were inspired and motivated that they could also become champions in the future,” Belingon shared.

“When I went home, you can see their happiness, their full support of me.”

Not wanting to be on the wrong end of history in his rivalry with the Brazilian World Champion, Belingon promises to make his compatriots proud at ONE: Century.

“I think the fourth match with Bibiano will decide who will become the champion — who really is the Bantamweight king,” Belingon said.

“That’s why, for me, I’m doing everything during the training to win this fight.”

Will Belingon end his rivalry against Fernandes as the winner? Find out on ONE: Century set for October 13 at the Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo, Japan.
