Kent Pastrana scintillates in debut as La Salle romps UP

Rookie Kent Pastrana made sure to introduce herself on the UAAP stage, leading the De La Salle University Lady Archers to a masterful 78-47 win over the University of the Philippines Lady Maroons, Wednesday at the UST Quadricentennial Pavilion in Manila.

The native of Silay City tallied 24 points, 14 rebounds, six steals, and two assists.

“Good way to start the season, but we have a lot of things to improve pa. It is a good experience for the first-year and second-year players to get their feet wet,” said Lady Archers head coach Cholo Villanueva.

La Salle pulled away in the second quarter to lead the half, 32-17. They kept UP at bay from then on, despite a close 20-17 score in the third quarter.

Pastrana and Bennette Revillosa used their size advantage late in the game. They scored eight and five points respectively in the last six minutes of the game.

Reviillosa added 13 markers, three rebounds, four steals, and an assist. Meanwhile, Chuchi Paraiso had eight points on 75-percent shooting to go with four boards.

Jona Lebico had 11 markers to lead UP in the scoring department.

Paul Ramos made his coaching debut for UP, replacing Kenneth Raval during the off-season. Unfortunately, though, the Lady Maroons dropped their 31st straight game.
