Kent Pastrana continues strong start, powers La Salle rout of UE


Kent Pastrana was phenomenal once more for the De La Salle University, as they scored a 91-58 drubbing of the University of the East Lady Warriors to bounce back in the UAAP Season 82 Women’s Basketball Tournament Saturday at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.

The highly-touted rookie out of Silay City poured 20 points, three rebounds, and three assists as the Lady Archers slowly ran away with the game after taking a 10-point lead, 26-16, after the first quarter.

Fellow neophyte Vea Malarde joined her in the mugging with 15 points and three assists, while sophomore Angel Quingco had 14 points, seven boards, and two blocks.

Bennette Revillosa notched a double-double with her 12 points and 11 rebounds as La Salle’s lead grew to as much as 35 numerous times in the payoff period.

“We had a good start, and the good thing is our rookies have the confidence to play defense and get their rhythm,” said coach Cholo Villanueva, who was more than happy that his side rebounded after losing back-to-back games.

La Salle suffered a tough 92-90 defeat to Ateneo last Sunday, then a 112-58 rout at the hands of NU last Wednesday.

“Coming off a tough loss last game, the experience we gained helped us a lot,” said Villanueva as his side shot 43-percent from the field in this affair.

The Lady Spikers evened their standing to 2-2, while keeping the Lady Warriors at 0-4.

Tin Cortizano captained UE in the losing cause with 15 points, 11 rebounds, and three assists. Princess Pedregosa had 13 points and 18 boards.
