Kath Arado makes PVL history as first libero to win Final MVP

Kath Arado etched her name in history on Sunday night, becoming the first-ever libero to capture the Finals Most Valuable Player award in the Premier Volleyball League.

The defensive specialist anchored PLDT with her trademark floor defense, steering the High Speed Hitters to the 2025 PVL Invitational Conference championship. She capped the night with a Finals MVP plum before a roaring crowd at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The High Speed Hitters had to overcome an opening-set stumble before dispatching Japanese guest team Kobe Shinwa University, 21-25, 31-29, 25-22, 25-18, to secure their second straight crown — just two weeks after ruling the 2025 PVL On Tour.

Arado stood tall against the firepower of Nagisa Komatsuda, Kokoro Yasuma, and Reira Miyazaki, finishing with 22 excellent digs and 11 excellent receptions.

She was also recognized as the tournament’s Best Libero, making her the most decorated in the position with five career awards.
