De La Salle-EcoOil maintained its perfect record in the 2024 Spikers’ Turf Invitational Conference, defeating D’Navigators-Iloilo in straight sets, 25-21, 25-20, 25-20, at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig on Friday.
Noel Kampton led the Green Oilers’ offensive charge, scoring 14 points from 12 attacks and adding eight excellent receptions.
“Happy sa panalo although sabihin natin na may lapses pero nandoon pa rin ‘yung confidence and trust ko sa kanila,” said La Salle-EcoOil head coach Jose Roque.
The Green Oilers pulled away from a close 11-10 in the third set, with Kampton, MJ Fortuna, and Nathaniel Del Pilar powering a 20-12 run that sealed the victory in just one hour and 27 minutes.
La Salle-EcoOil now holds a 3-0 record, standing in third place behind the 4-0 Savouge Spin Doctors and FEU-DN Steel Ultras.
Fortuna contributed nine points in the win, while Vince Maglinao added eight points in just two sets of play.
Meanwhile, D’Navigators dropped their fourth straight game after winning their opener, slipping to 1-4 and sharing seventh place with VNS.
Last year’s Invitational Conference MVP Vince Himzon led D’Navigators with 11 points, while Rash Nursiddik and Steven Sta. Maria contributed six points each.
Both teams will return to action on Sunday at the same Pasig venue, with La Salle-EcoOil facing PGJC Navy at 4 p.m. and D’Navigators aiming to break their losing streak against Cignal at 6 p.m.
