LA Tenorio joined an elite company during Barangay Ginebra’s heavyweight clash with San Miguel Beer in 2021 Honda PBA Philippine Cup action, Friday night.
According to league stats chief Fidel Mangonon III, the decorated floor general is now ranked 10th in the league’s all-time assists list, dislodging all-time great and current Gin Kings assistant Olsen Racela.
Racela, who won titles in an 18-year career that also saw him earn multiple Mythical Team citations, has 3,085 dimes to his name. And Tenorio had the same count just in the first half alone, as he had already dished out six.
He then went on to take over his mentor as he finished with 11 assists, together with 19 points on 70-percent shooting and three steals.
Unfortunately, such a historic night got overshadowed as the reigning champs lost, 102-111. It is now their fourth loss of the conference.
Still, it was a remarkable feat for the PBA’s ironman, as he barged into a group that features some of the greatest to ever play in the league.
Heading the all-time list is Sonny Jaworski with 5,825 assists. He is followed by four-time MVP Ramon Fernandez’ 5,220, Dindo Pumaren with 4,043, Johnny Abarrientos’ 3,757, and Jimmy Alapag’s 3,401.
Completing the Top 10 are Beerman Alex Cabagnot (3,370), Willy Generalao (3,256), Ronnie Magsanoc (3,228), Philip Cezar (3,130), and Tenorio.
