Kacey Dela Rosa rises to top of UAAP Women’s MVP race


Kacey dela Rosa of Ateneo de Manila University is leading the MVP race in the UAAP Women’s Basketball Tournament at the end of the first round.

Dela Rosa, last season’s top rookie, has accumulated a total of 127 points, 83 rebounds, 10 assists, 15 steals, and 17 blocks, with 24 turnovers and two infractions. The 6-foot center has led the Blue Eagles to five wins.

She finished the round with 85.0 SP.

FEU’s Josee Kaputu (81.1), UST’s Kent Pastrana (76.1), UP’s Favour Onoh (74.3), and Ateneo’s Junize Calago (72.0) complete the top five.

UP’s Louna Ozar, who is ranked 11th in the SP race with 61.4 SP, leads all freshmen in the competition so far.

Leading in different categories are Kaputu in points (22.6), Onoh (13.7) in rebounds, Ateneo’s Jhazmin Joson (5.6) in assists, NU’s Stefanie Berberabe (4.3) in steals, and Onoh (3.4) in blocks.
