Justin Gutang lifts Go for Gold-CSB out of rot at FamilyMart-Enderun’s expense

After three tries, Go for Gold-College of Saint Benilde finally scored its first win in the 2019 PBA D-League, slipping past Family Mart-Enderun, 78-69, Thursday at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.

Justin Gutang unleashed 23 points on a 10-of-16 shooting clip, alongside seven rebounds, four assists, and two steals for the Scratchers’ first win in three outings.

The Fil-Am forward was instrumental in Go for Gold-CSB’s pullaway from a 38-35 affair as his third-quarter outburst gave it a 51-37 edge at the 5:42 mark of the frame.

Kendrix Belgica added 14 points and six rebounds, Unique Naboa got 12 points, nine assists, and three boards, and Roosevelt Adams nabbed 11 on a 3-of-9 clip from threes, on top of 12 rebounds and two dimes in the victory.

“We’re happy na we finally won,” said coach Charles Tiu as his side improved to 1-2 record in the Aspirants Group.

“We’ve been struggling, and the team hasn’t been playing well. We played a bit better, but they didn’t play with their best player and we barely beat them,” the youthful mentor added.

Marvin Hayes registered 13 points and 11 rebounds in the losing cause for the Titans as they dropped to 0-2.
