Juan GDL signs with ABL team Surabaya Vikings Warriors


Juan Gomez de Liaño’s next journey will take him to Indonesia.

The 6-foot combo guard has signed with ASEAN Basketball League team Surabaya Vikings Warriors for the regional league’s return later this year.

The team announced the development on its social media pages.

Gomez de Liaño, 22, suited up for B.League club Tokyo Z last year.

He played a total of 17 games for Earthfriends. There, he averaged 5.3 points, 2.4 assists, and 2.2 rebounds per contest before securing his release back on January 18.

Since then, the University of the Philippines product played two games for Gilas Pilipinas Men in the FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers.

Surabaya will be a newcomer to the regional league.

Also signed by the Vikings Warriors are imports DeAngelo Hamilton, Jaywuan Hill, Randy Bell, and Marcus Hammonds.

Hammonds and Gomez de Liaño will also team up for Platinum Karaoke in the ABL 3×3 Invitational Cup set later this month in Bali, Indonesia.
