Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas 3×3 All-Stars averted disaster against Malaysia, escaping with a 21-17 (7:04) win to remain unblemished in the Jakarta 3×3 International Invitational Challenge 2019, Saturday.
With the game knotted at 17-all, the duo of Joshua Munzon and Alvin Pasaol took charge for the Philippines.
Pasaol knocked down a timely deuce to snap Chooks 3×3 out of its funk to give them breathing room.
After a miss by Zhen Jie from deep, Munzon took things into his own hands. He drained a very long deuce for the game-winner with 3:56 left.
Munzon finished with eight points, while Pasaol had seven.
Santillan added five markers, as Troy Rike chipped in a point.
The Southeast Asian Games-bound Malaysians were up 15-12 midway through the game before the Filipinos mounted a comeback.
The Philippines shares the top of the table with Indonesia and Vietnam, since all three squads sport 2-0 slates. Malaysia dropped to 1-1 while Chinese-Taipei remained winless in two outings.
Up next for Chooks 3×3 is Indonesia at 8:20 pm.
