Joshua Guiab bares John Amores apologetic for trouble he caused

After the John Amores incident last Tuesday, sophomore Joshua Guiab admitted that Jose Rizal University’s morale hit rock bottom.

And it showed after losing their next two games, while officially waving goodbye to their final four hopes following the 72-60 loss against University of Perpetual Help System DALTA.

“Ayun medyo bumaba ‘yung kumpyansa namin lahat gawa nung sa nangyari,” said Guiab, who was one of eight Heavy Bombers suspended for “entering the playing court without recognition by table officials” during Amores’ one-man melee.

Despite being on the wrong end of all the headlines recently, Guiab said that their team will stick together as one, with JRU only having three games left with a 6-9 win-loss card.NCAA-98-JRU-vs-SSCR-JRU-2 Joshua Guiab bares John Amores apologetic for trouble he caused Basketball JRU NCAA News - philippine sports news

“Pinagusapan din namin ng team na kailangan namin mag stick pa rin sa loob – sama-sama kami,” said Guiab.

“Mag-stick lang kami dito sa team namin na walang iwanan – sama-sama pa rin. ‘Yun mag trabaho pa rin kami on and off the court – sama-sama lahat kahit ano mangyari.”

Guiab also shared that they continue to check on Amores on how he is doing after the incident.

And Amores apologized to his teammates and coaches for the incident that he caused.NCAA-Season-98-JRU-vs-Benilde-Fight-4 Joshua Guiab bares John Amores apologetic for trouble he caused Basketball JRU NCAA News - philippine sports news

“Oo, kinakausap namin siya at kinakamusta namin. Ayun humingi siya sa amin ng pasensya [and] sa team.”

Just last month, the Heavy Bombers were at a low point after numerous cancellations of their games due to health and safety protocols.

Instead of things getting better, everything went completely out of hand for them after the incident against CSB which led to the suspension of more than half of their entire roster.

And despite getting eight of their players back in their game against the Altas, the 6-foot-2 forward said that it is still hard for them and things just weren’t the same.

“Mahirap talaga kasi nung game nila nung kakaonti sila. Pag dating namin di pa ganon ka [ayos] ‘yung sa ensayo namin parang wala rin,” stressed Guiab as Ryan Arenal and William Sy remain suspended due to committing disrespectful acts before Management Committee representatives while the representatives were pacifying the participants.

“Kulang-kulang kami, tapos napakahirap gawa ng… siyempre wala rin sila Arenal [at Sy] na nasa team namin.”
