Joseph Nunag continues to shine bright for Franklin, helping the Bulls pick up a 100-99 win over Manawatu in the 2021 Sals’ New Zealand National Basketball League, Saturday on their home floor.
Coming off a 14-point outing versus Auckland five days ago, the former FEU Tamaraw followed it up with 20 points built on four triples against the Jets.
Nunag played a huge part in the victory as well. He knocked down a clutch triple with 5:28 left to give his side an 89-88 edge.
Daishon Knight and Jake McKinlay still got the lead back for the Jets. But Denhym Brooke and Nicholas Fee were able to give the home team the 100-99 lead with two minutes left.
Excellent stops from Nunag and the Bulls led to their first victory of the season.
Josh Selby led Franklin once more, dropping 27 points, eight rebounds, eight assists, and four steals. Zan Waterman added 25 points and 14 boards.
The 0-2 Jets were led by Jayden Bezzant, who had 29 points, seven rebounds, and two assists. Meanwhile, Knight chipped in 23 markers.
Up next for Nunag and Franklin is the Taranaki Mountainairs on Wednesday.
