De La Salle University parted ways with one of its future foundations on Monday evening.
Multiple sources closely monitoring the situation confirmed to Tiebreaker Times that, as of the moment, Jonnel Policarpio is out of the Green Archers lineup.
It was a mutual decision from both sides, a source added confirming the report of Rappler’s Naveen Ganglani, citing that Policarpio is hoping to assist his family with their financial needs.
Discussions are still ongoing on whether La Salle will bring him back as of publishing.
At just 21 years old, Policarpio played solidly for the Green Archers during UAAP Season 86, averaging 6.69 points, 4.63 rebounds, and 2.19 assists per game.
The 6-foot-5 all-around forward will leave a significant void in La Salle’s lineup.
Also exhausting their final playing years last season were Evan Nelle, Mark Nonoy, Ben Phillips, Ef Escandor, and Joaqui Manuel.
If Policarpio does not return to La Salle, he will most likely either play for Randy Alcantara’s San Juan or Gov. Delta Pineda’s Pampanga in the MPBL.
Possibilities of a homecoming at Mapua or a stint with Letran could also materialize.
