The rebuilding of John Amores will continue with Muntinlupa.
The new-look Cagers have announced that Amores will be part of their team for the upcoming 2023 Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League season.
After his indefinite suspension by the NCAA due to his involvement in the infamous brawl that happened in San Juan a year ago, Amores, 23, joined Zamboanga MLV in the ASEAN Basketball League.
Now that the campaign is over, he now heads to the MPBL.
“Nagpapasalamat ako sa buong management ng Muntinlupa dahil naging part ako ng team nila at binigyan nila ako ng tiwala na maging part ng team nila,” said the Jose Rizal University student.
“Sa lahat ng fans ng Muntinlupa, asahan niyo po na maglalaro ako ng maayos, hindi ko kayo bibiguin, at gagawin ko ang lahat para sa inyo.”
Also joining him in Muntinlupa is fellow Heavy Bomber JL Delos Santos.
Other NCAA standouts in the Cagers squad are Ichie Altamirano, Jamil Ortuoste, GJ Ylagan, Tonton Peralta, Cedrick Abis, Rommel Mangalino, and Kevin Buenaflor.
Completing the squad are Dave Moralde, Chino Mosqueda, Ford Ruaya, and Jessie Saitanan.
Jack Azcueta has replaced Jules Hidalgo and Vinci Salvador as head coach.
Muntinlupa was the eighth seed in the Southern Division last year but was swept by eventual-runner up Zamboanga-Family’s Brand Sardines.
