Entering his Grade 12 year, Adamson University opposite spiker Jims Ducusin is ready to embrace the challenges of his last UAAP High School Boys’ Volleyball season.
As a senior, Ducusin is expected to lead by example and make the most of this crucial year.
In their opening match against the UPIS Junior Fighting Maroons, the Baby Falcons showcased their strength with a dominant three-set victory: 25-12, 25-14, 25-6.
Ducusin played a key role, leading the team’s offense with nine points, including eight from attacks and a service ace.
Despite his strong start, Ducusin recognizes the need for improved communication and team chemistry.
“Natutuwa lang po ako kasi alam ko naman po na as a senior, dapat po talaga, expected po sakin yun. Gusto ko lang po na sana magtuloy-tuloy na ganoon po yung may papakita ko hanggang sa mga susunod na game namin,” Ducusin said.
He remains focused on his coaches’ advice to further grow and leave a mark.
“Kami yung senior sa loob, kami dapat yung mag-lead sa team. Dapat nakikita namin bawat isa, walang naiiwan. Kailangan iaangat namin yung team, tulong-tulong kami,” he added.
The Baby Falcons fell short of the final four last season, finishing with a 7-7 record.
The NU Bullpups were crowned champions after defeating the UE Junior Warriors.
Ducusin and his team will face the NU Bullpups on Saturday at the Paco Arena in Malate, Manila.
“May ilang araw pa kami para maghanda. Pero sa lahat-lahat ng training namin, sila talaga yung pinaghahandaan namin,” Ducusin said.
“So, kailangan mag-tuloy-tuloy lang. Dapat yung laro namin is paangat para pag nakatapat namin yung NU, mataas na yung moral namin.”
As they prepare for this significant match, Jims Ducusin and the Baby Falcons are determined to rise to the occasion and test their mettle against the defending champions.
