Jho Maraguinot goes pro, signs with Perlas

Jho Maraguinot is ready for the next stage of her career.

Maraguinot has signed with Perlas Spikers in the Premier Volleyball League, marking the end to her long collegiate career with Ateneo.

Perlas made the reveal over on its social media accounts.

Over the past year, Maraguinot, 25, had been pondering on whether she would make one last run with Ateneo.

After, all she still had one year of eligibility left after the cancellation of UAAP Season 82.

“For me, mahirap na decision siya kasi personally, ako, matanda na ako. So I mean pumasok ako ng Ateneo I was 16, tapos aalis ako… If kung maglaro man ako next year, aalis ako 25,” mused Maraguinot.

“So parang it’s too long na for me. Sana nag-double major na lang pala ako.”

Maraguinot made her Ateneo debut in Season 77, helping Ateneo win the championship of that season.

In 2019, Maraguinot joined Sta. Lucia but injuries limited her stay there.

Many PVL teams tried to recruit her or were looking at her during the 2020 lull, including Choco Mucho and UAC.

“We were looking into it kasi player ko siya before. Alam natin na talent si Jho, hindi matatawaran ‘yan,” Flying Titans head coach Oliver Almadro told Tiebreaker Times back in January.

This caps the huge haul Perlas made this year.

Also signed by the team early this year were Cherry Nunag, Gel Cayuna, Thang Ponce, Jellie Tempiatura, and Cza Carandang.
