Jericho Cruz faces fine after obscene gesture in PBA Finals Game 1

ANTIPOLO – Jericho Cruz is set to be fined by the PBA Commissioner’s Office for his obscene gesture during San Miguel’s eventual loss to TNT in Game 1 of the Season 50 Philippine Cup Finals last Wednesday at the Ynares Center here.

The Beermen wing was caught flashing the middle finger during the fourth quarter of the match, which the reigning champs lost, 96-91.

Commissioner Willie Marcial said that his technical committee received an image of the act, which they later verified following a thorough review of the videos.

“Kakausapin ko rin si Jericho patungkol doon,” the league chieftain told reporters before Game 2 of the best-of-seven series Friday evening, adding that he and his office have yet to decide on what amount Cruz will have to pay.

Cruz drew jeers from the Tropang 5G fans back in the series opener, but managed to help SMB threaten late in the game with key plays on both ends.

But they couldn’t complete the rally, with their rivals proving to be steadier thanks to the trio of Calvin Oftana, Brandon Rosser, and Jordan Heading.

Cruz, the PBA Press Corps Season 49 Philippine Cup Finals MVP, finished with eight points, two rebounds, five assists, and a pair of steals off the bench.
