Jeremy Pacatiw brought out his entire arsenal in his ONE Championship debut.
The 25-year-old Baguio native took a dominant unanimous decision win against China’s Chan Rui on ONE: Battleground, Friday evening at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
Pacatiw, a veteran in Pacific Xtreme Combat and BRAVE CF, did not show any jitters in his first round in the circle.
Connecting on crisp combinations, Pacatiw showed his ground game after taking down Chan midway through the first round. Pacatiw managed to put his opponent in danger after securing his back, but could not finish a choke attempt.
It was the same story in the second round. Pacatiw was more at ease on the feet while also taking down Chan later on. This time around, Pacatiw showed more variety in his submission attempts as he tried to go for a heel hook and later on a guillotine — both of which could not close out Chan.
If there was one blip in Pacatiw’s debut, it was the third round.
Pacatiw tried to be creative in the standup, weaving wildly and throwing wild shots and take-down attempts. His attempts were easily stuffed by Chen, but the latter could not do anything to turn the bout around.
Pacatiw, who last fought back in December of 2019, went up to 11-3.
Chen, on the other hand, fell to 9-3 after the bout.
