As the clock struck midnight, marking the start of 2021, Jeanette Panaga took a leap.
After two years of being together, Panaga popped the question to partner Michelle Morente.
And she said, “Yes!”
“My 2020,” read the 22-year-old Panaga’s Instagram post.
“2020 plot twist,” read 25-year-old Morente’s post.
Panaga, a middle blocker for PVL team Petro Gazz, and Morente, an opposite hitter for PSL club F2 Logistics, have been together since March 16, 2019.
Panaga is a product of College of Saint Benilde and is a one-time NCAA champion. Morente, on the other hand, began her collegiate career with Ateneo, winning two UAAP indoor volleyball crowns, before graduating in De La Salle University.
Panaga has had a successful career in the PVL, winning multiple crowns with Pocari Sweat and, later on, Petro Gazz. She is also a three-time Best Blocker.
Numerous volleyball players took to social media to send congratulatory messages and celebrate the engagement.
“OMG! Congratulations! Love wins,” read Fille Cainglet-Cayetano’s post.
“Congrats Pangs and Mich,” said Mika Reyes.
“Love you!!!!! Congratulations!” expressed Des Cheng.
“Congratulations, Michifu!” shared Mae Tajima.
