A year ago, Javi Gomez de Liano sent out a tweet:
I’ll find my way back 🌍
— Javier Gomez de Liaño (@javigdl22) June 15, 2023
“I’ll find my way back,” he said, referring to his intention to return to playing overseas.
Three hundred and seventy-one days later, the 6-foot-4 winger is back abroad.
The 25-year-old former Terrafirma Dyip forward has signed with Anyang Jung Kwan Jang for the 2024-25 Korean Basketball League season.
After being released by Ibaraki two years ago, Gomez de Liano was the 8th overall pick in the PBA Rookie Draft.
Since then, the UP product chose not to cut his hair until he got back abroad. Now, he gets to do so.
Last season, he averaged 16.4 points, 5.72 rebounds, 2.24 assists, and 1.32 steals per game, including a career-high 16.45 points during the Commissioner’s Cup.
He opted not to renew with the Dyip.
Now, he will join the Red Boosters, who chose not to renew Rhenz Abando during the off-season.
Anyang JKJ finished in ninth place last season with an 18-36 record.
