San Beda University will face major problems heading into Game 2 of the NCAA Season 101 Seniors Basketball Finals.
Janti Miller will be suspended for Saturday’s game after accumulating two technical fouls in their 89-70 win over Colegio de San Juan de Letran on Wednesday.
Miller’s two technical fouls were both for “faking a foul.” The first came in the final seconds of the second quarter, while the second occurred with 6:16 remaining in the game.
Unlike the UAAP, where unsportsmanlike and technical fouls have specific criteria, NCAA ground rules are black and white, as explained by league commissioner Atty. Rico Quicho.
“Well, we have NCAA ground rules. The NCAA ground rules clearly state that a player who has been disqualified or thrown out of the game faces an automatic suspension,” Atty. Quicho said.
“The ground rules do not make a distinction. It is simply written there: two technical fouls, two unsportsmanlike fouls, or one technical and one unsportsmanlike foul results in being thrown out and an automatic suspension.”
Before fouling out, Miller had another standout performance, tallying 16 points, nine rebounds, and two assists.
