San Beda star guard Janti Miller was in street clothes for Game 2 of the NCAA Season 101 Seniors Basketball semifinals, sidelined by a right knee contusion he suffered late in Game 1 last Wednesday.
The injury was disclosed by the TV broadcast.
The 6-foot-4 Miller had been nothing short of dominant in the series opener, exploding for 29 points and nine rebounds to power the Red Lions to a 91-72 victory over the College of Saint Benilde Blazers.
But on Friday at the SM Mall of Asia Arena, San Beda had to adjust quickly without their top scorer.
Jomel Puno was inserted into the starting lineup in Miller’s place, getting the early nod after logging just eight minutes in Game 1 where he finished with two points and three rebounds.
Miller’s availability for the rest of the semifinals remains uncertain, but his absence in Game 2 marks a shift for a San Beda squad chasing a return to the NCAA Finals.
