After knocking down five triples against Spain, gunslinging Perlas guard Janine Pontejos was able to carry her momentum over in the 2018 FIBA 3×3 World Cup shootout competition, Sunday.
Pontejos bombarded six triples in just 22 seconds to lead all female competitors in the event.
“Sobrang nakakalakas ng energy po, nakakadala, nakaka-encourage ng loob kasi siyempre galing sa crowd, galing sa mga Pilipino, so kailangan masipag ka, maipapakita mo na kaya sila and’yan, sumusuporta sa’yo,” the 25-year-old product of CEU expressed.
China’s Jiaying Jiang also knocked down six threes but needed 30 seconds to do so.
Pontejos will still have to wait for the results of Monday’s qualifiers to formalize her entry.
The top two in men’s and women’s competitions will advance to the final on June 12.
Yesterday, Troy Rosario bombed in the competition, only knocking down two shots.
Pontejos and Perlas Pilipinas still have a chance to salvage their campaign a win when they take on Hungary in tonight’s night-capper.
