Jarin leaves San Beda, set to transfer to NU

For the second year in a row, a reigning NCAA Senior’s Basketball champion coach leaves his post.

Head coach Jamike Jarin has left his alma mater, the San Beda College, Tuesday morning, paving the way for his imminent move to the National University.

“I just learned today he [Jarin] already said his goodbyes to the players but I’m still waiting for official word from Fr. Rector [Maranan],” said San Beda’s Management Committee member Jose Mari Lacson.

Having taken over for Boyet Fernandez prior to the start of the 91st season of the NCAA, Jarin steered the Red Lions to a silver finish in his first year of duty. He was then able to redeem himself a season later, winning the seniors basketball crown, the school’s 20th championship in the division.

Overall, Jarin compiled a 32-12 record with San Beda, 5-3 in the post-season.

Current De La Salle University head coach Aldin Ayo had also resigned from his post after winning the NCAA crown a season ago.

The team has yet to speak about the situation especially regarding Jarin’s live four-year contract. Jarin, on the other hand, has declined to speak about the matter.

With Jarin’s resignation, his move to National University becomes much easier. His move to NU was first reported by Tiebreaker Times.
