James Canlas, MetroPac-San Beda deal Trinity 49-point rout

MetroPac-San Beda hardly broke a sweat against the CD14 Designs-Trinity, taking the 49-point rout, 119-70, to inch closer to a playoff berth in the 2019 PBA D-League, Tuesday at JCSGO Gym in Cubao.

James Canlas started off the mauling when he went for 14 in the first quarter. He finished with 16 points to lead the Movers’ 18-3 opening salvo.

“Medyo maganda ang simula namin,” said coach Boyet Fernandez. “Gusto ko lang makita ang attitude ng players namin, how they react in this game, lalo na we’re facing a winless team.”

Clint Doliguez chipped in 12 points in the victory. Meanwhile, four other players got to double-digits in scoring as Metropac-San Beda forced a tie for the Foundation Group top spot at 6-1, together with CEU.

It was all the Movers in the game, with their stingy defense leading to 26 White Stallion turnovers and turned to 33 points in their favor.

The snoozefest resulted in a seventh straight defeat for the cellar-dwelling CD14 Designs-Trinity.

Kimley Medina poured 17 points in the losing cause for the White Stallions.
