Jaja Santiago, Saitama pound PFU in prelude to Toray showdown in V.League

Jaja Santiago and Saitama Ageo Medics opened the new year on a high note.

Saitama picked up a 25-17, 27-29, 25-16, 25-20 victory against PFU Bluecats in the 2020-21 Japan V.League Division 1 Women’s Tournament at the Okayama Prefectural Stadium, Saturday.

The 6-foot-5 Filipino pride dropped 10 points on eight attacks and two blocks for Saitama as their record improved to .500 at 7-7.

Usual suspects Yuri Yushino and Mami Uchiseto were once again on target for Ageo Medics with 17 markers apiece.

Canadian Shainah Joseph also punched in 15 points in the winning cause.

Venezuelan Roslandy Acosta uncorked 16 points for PFU while Ayaka Horiguchi had 10.

The hapless Bluecats slid to 2-12 in the win-loss standings.

Up next for Saitama are the undefeated Toray Arrows tomorrow, 2:30 pm, at the same venue.
