Jaja Santiago proud of partner Maika Ortiz: ‘From ACL to championship’

Jaja Santiago had always been proud of what her partner Maika Ortiz had been accomplishing since the devastating ACL tear she experienced in 2019.

While Santiago was playing for Ageo Medics in the V.League, Ortiz was working her way back to shape.

Two years later, they are now champions. And the 2021 Premier Volleyball League Open Conference Conference and Finals Most Valuable Player is just proud of what Ortiz has accomplished.

“To my source of energy, happiness, and stress,” quipped the 25-year-old Santiago.

“I am really proud sayo! From an ACL injury to winning the championship! Wow!

“Nakaka-proud kasi di ka sumuko sa mga naging struggles and hardships mo sa buhay,” the native of Tanza, Cavite continued.

While Jaja and her sister Dindin did most of the damage during their three-game epic against Creamline, Ortiz provided a steady presence both on and off the court.

When plugged, the 5-foot-10 blocker averaged 3.3 points per game. Off of it, she was the leader that kept the Crossovers together.

For that, Santiago is grateful.2021-PVL-Open-Chery-Tiggo-vs-Creamline-Maika-Ortiz-and-Jaja-Santiago Jaja Santiago proud of partner Maika Ortiz: 'From ACL to championship' News PVL Volleyball - philippine sports news

“Continue being a leader and source of happiness to everyone,” said Santiago.

“I love you so much! Maika Ortiz is back!”

Ortiz though shared that she could not have done it without Santiago.2021-PVL-Open-Creamline-vs.-Chery-Tiggo-Finals-G3-Maika-Ortiz-7254 Jaja Santiago proud of partner Maika Ortiz: 'From ACL to championship' News PVL Volleyball - philippine sports news

“Grabe ang motivation mo sa akin at sa amign lahat. Isa kang tunay na leader! Salute, my captain, my MVP!” said the 29-year-old product of University of Santo Tomas.
