All streaks must come to an end, and the National University Lady Bulldogs finally lost a match in the UAAP Season 80 Women’s Volleyball tournament.
Since Babes Castillo took over as head coach, the Lady Bulldogs have not lost a match in both the PVL and UAAP — until Wednesday evening.
Taking on their foes in the 2017 PVL Collegiate Finals, the Lady Bulldogs succumbed to the Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws in four sets.
True to Castillo’s system, the Lady Bulldogs are staying positive despite their first setback.
“Wala, move on ‘yun lang. Iwanan natin ‘yung talo na ‘to ngayong araw na ‘to. Let’s move on,” shared Jaja Santiago about what the Lady Bulldogs had talked about after the game.
“Maganda naman ‘yung pinakita ng bawat isa. Talagang tinarabaho lang ng FEU ngayon. Kinulang kami sa pasa and floor defense.
“Positive naman siya (Babes Castillo), sinabi niya lang sa amin after ng loss na ito is let’s move on and ipanalo namin ‘yung next game namin. Back to reality — training and then game,” the 22-year-old pointed out.
Santiago could have been severely affected by the recent death of her beloved grandfather, as she scored just 13 points against NU. But the six-foot-five middle blocker insisted that she was okay.
“Okay lang naman ako. ‘Yun lang. Hindi naman naka-apekto ‘yun.”
