Jaja Santiago, Ageo Medics sustain momentum Japan V Cup


Jaja Santiago and Saitama Ageo Medics are off to a rousing start in the inaugural Women’s V Cup of the Japan V.League Division 1.

This as Saitama made quick work of Hitachi, 25-19, 25-15, 25-21, at the Saitama Prefectural Budokan, Saturday afternoon.

Ageo Medics, the fifth place finishers in the V-League, ran their streak to eight games.

The 6-foot-5 Filipina middle blocker provided 12 points, scattered through eight attacks, three blocks, and an ace in the match that lasted 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Mami Uchiseto had a game-high 16 markers while Shainah Joseph delivered 11 as well, including four blocks.

Ageo Medics, together with NEC, rose to 1-0 in Group B of the tournament.

Miwako Nagauchi was the lone Rivale to break double digits with 11 points.

Santiago and Saitama look to make it two in a row when they face Kurobe on Saturday, March 6, 11 am, at the Toyama Seibu Sports Center.
