Jaja Santiago, Ageo Medics remain unbeaten in V.Cup

Jaja Santiago and Saitama Ageo Medics remained unblemished after three games in the 2020-21 Japan V. League Division 1 V Cup Group B.

This as Ageo Medics fended off a gritty Kurobe side, 25-16, 25-18, 20-25, 25-23, at the Toyama Seibu Sports Center, Saturday noon.

Saitama got its automatic second victory after PFU Bluecats forfeited the match.

The 6-foot-5 Filipina middle blocker punched in just six points on 6-of-9 attempts as she did not play in the third set.

Shainah Joseph and Mami Uchiseto co-starred with 15 markers apiece while Yuka Sato and Kyoko Aoyagi each had 11.

This is Ageo Medics’ 10th straight win stretching back to Jan. 23 in the main V.League tournament.

Simone Lee uncorked 19 points, including three block kills for Kurobe while Umezu Yuri chipped in 12 markers.

Sayo Masuda also delivered 11 points of her own as the Aqua Fairies slid to 0-2.

Saitama will play its penultimate game in the elimination round against NEC Red Rockets two weeks from now on March 20, 10 am, at the Tokorozawa Municipal Gymnasium.
