CAVITE — Jaime De Lange continued the roll of the Philippine National Skateboarding Team, as he and compatriot Duke Pandeagua went 1-1 in the 30th Southeast Asian Games’ downhill event, Sunday at the Maragondon-Nasugbu road.
“It was a dream come true for me to win here in the SEA Games,” said De Lange.
This is the Philippines’ sixth gold medal in Skateboarding. Asian Games gold medalist Margielyn Didal delivered golds in her two events, Game of S.K.A.T.E. and street event; Fil-Am Christiane Means clinched gold in park; Daniel Ledermman got gold in Game of S.K.A.T.E.; while Kiko Francisco won gold in park.
Lugman Shahrafidz Ahmad of Malaysia settled for bronze.
Rydelle Abarico settled for bronze for the women’s side after accidentally colliding with teammate Abigail Viloria in the last heat.
Grace Wong Sze Ern pulled off an upset to claim gold for Malaysia in the women’s downhill event. Thailand’s Nuansamorn Pimchua then claimed the silver on the 2-kilometer track.
De Lange is a graduate of Developmental Science at DLSU-Taft. Meanwhile, Pandeagua operates a small restaurant in Daet town, and shifted his hobby from surfing to skateboard few years ago.
