Jack Animam was one of the few bright spots Radnički had as it suffered a 66-104 rout at the hands of defending First Women’s Basketball League of Serbia champion Crvena Zvezda, Sunday (Manila time) at SBB Hala Jezero in Kragujevac, Serbia.
Coming off a 20-point, 14-rebound outing last week against Proleter 023, the 6-foot-3 native of Bulacan tallied 29 points on 12-of-17 shooting with 12 rebounds, six assists, a steal, and a block.
However, Crvena Zvezda’s firepower proved to be too much in the middle quarters that resulted in the rout.
Radnički was able to keep pace early against Crvena, going down 21-25 to end the opening frame with Animam scoring 11.
Crvena though stepped on the pedal in the second stanza, scoring 34 points while limiting the home team to just 17 points. The visitors followed it up with a 28-point third canto.
Team captain Nevena Naumčev led Crvena with 20 points built on five triples.
Maša Janković added 14 points on 6-of-8 shooting with eight boards and three steals. Nadežda Nedeljkov had 13 points with six coming from the foul stripe.
All in all, Crvena shot 54-percent from the field compared to just 39-percent for Radnički. They also went 18-of-22 from the stripe.
Minela Mehović, who went scoreless last weekend, had 14 points for Animam’s squad. Meanwhile, Milica Inđić added 11 points and eight boards.
The red shirts will next face Kraljevo next weekend. Both teams sport 1-1 slates after week two.
