In-form F2 Logistics lambasts Cignal to enter second-straight AFC Finals

Defending All-Filipino Conference champions F2 Logistics Cargo Movers made it look so easy to enter the final stage of the tournament, as they swept the Cignal HD Spikers, 25-15, 25-15, 25-14, Thursday evening the Filoil Flying V Centre.

Aby Marano and Ara Galang powered 11 points each, while Majoy Baron contributed 10.

“Si Ara naman ang heart and soul ng team. Kung mag-i-improve yung kondisyon niya, siya naman yung kaya mag-angat ng team. Yung iba naman alam mo namang gagalaw eh,” said F2 Logistics head coach Ramil de Jesus.

Cignal was obviously stunned by F2 Logisctics’ solid defense, as Cignal’s top guns Jovelyn Gonzaga and Royse Tubino were limited to five and three points respectively.

The HD Spikers were not able to gain any momentum and were limited to less than 20 points in all sets.

De Jesus made sure that his unit learned their lesson after losing to Cignal during the elimination round.

“Maayos ang ginalaw compared sa first meeting sa Cignal na andap, pero ngayon parang gustong kumain ng kalaban si Aby,” De Jesus quipped.

In the third set, it was Baron’s turn to do some damage, connecting on four consecutive service aces to give F2 Logistics a 21-12 lead. Gonzaga stopped the bleeding with a spike at 22-13, but the HD Spikers’s errors hurt them and eventually surrendered to two consecutive blocks from Kim Fajardo and Marano sealing the match at 25-14.

F2 Logitics will await the winner of the Petron-Foton semifinals tiff. The Finals will begin on Tuesday, July 11.

“Kung after ng game nito [Foton vs Petron], dun palang kami mag start mag-scout, mag-aral,” said De Jesus. – By: Danine Cruz
