ANGELES CITY — Continuing their drive to prove that arnis belongs here, the Philippine Men’s National Arnis Team hauled three more golds, Monday at the Angeles University Foundation Gym here.
Jesfer Huquire, Elmer Manlapas, and Carloyd Tejada dispatched their respective opponents to raise the team’s tally to eight golds in the full contact event of the sport.
Huquire defeated Vietnam’s Cong Quoc Van in the Bantamweight division finals; meanwhile, Manlapas dominated Vietnam’s Duc Tri Nguyen in the featherweight finale. Tejada, on the other hand, edged Vietnam’s Thanh Tung Vong in the welterweight finals.
Billy Valenzuela was not as fortunate, falling in the lightweight finals versus Camboadia’s Mengly Long.
Last night, Jezebel Morcillo won the bantamweight division of the distaff’s side.
